New image for the Iturbi Awards

A new corporate image has been designed by Dani Nebot for the Iturbi awards and their different events.


Glòria Tello, the councillor responsible for the Iturbi Awards, explained that “this new image reflects the revamp of the Iturbi Awards taking place in recent months”.

The awards’ new website (pianoiturbi.dival.es) containing all the new features of the 21st Iturbi Competition was also presented.


The Iturbi Awards of the Provincial Council of Valencia presented their new corporate image designed by Dani Nebot which “reflects the revamp of the Iturbi Awards taking place in recent months starting with the appointment of the acclaimed concert pianist Joaquín Achúcarro as the new artistic director and the creation of a new committee with Óscar Oliver at the helm, consisting of the pianists Josu de Solaun, Carles Marín and Emma Jiménez” explained the Iturbi councillor, Glòria Tello.


The corporate image designed by Dani Nebot reflects the different activities in the Iturbi Award and particularly its flagship event: the 21st International Iturbi Piano Competition, Valencia on 23 June – 3 July 2021.

The Iturbi Awards also have a new website (pianoiturbi.dival.es) listing all the new features of the 21st Iturbi Competition and explaining how to apply online until 31 October. The website will also provide full details of the activities commemorating the 125th anniversary of José Iturbi’s birth, and the programme of the 1st Iturbi Festival.

The organising committee of the 21st International Iturbi Piano Competition, Valencia – with Joaquín Achúcarro at the helm as artistic director – has revamped the format of the competition (the entry application period began on 1st June).


New features include the maximum age of participants being raised to 36 and more flexibility regarding the repertoires played in the different rounds. The Orchestra of Valencia will perform in the final and the grand final.


In addition, the Iturbi Awards have commissioned a piece by the Valencian composer Óscar Colomina for the 40th anniversary of the Awards in 2021 to be performed by the pianists who reach the semi-finals.

In the words of the Iturbi councillor, Glòria Tello, “This year, from September onwards, the Iturbi Awards will provide a special programme to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the birth of the Valencian pianist” beginning with the 1st International Iturbi Piano Festival, Valencia, on 22 – 27 September 2020 at La Beneficència Cultural Centre.
