Javier Perianes

 

During his international career, Javier Perianes has performed in the world’s most prestigious concert halls with the most outstanding orchestras and conductors including Daniel Barenboim, Charles Dutoit, Zubin Mehta, Gustavo Dudamel, Klaus Mäkelä, Sakari Oramo, Yuri Temirkanov, Gianandrea Noseda, Gustavo Gimeno, Santtu-Matias Rouvali, Simone Young, Juanjo Mena, Vladimir Jurowski, David Afkham, François-Xavier Roth and Daniel Harding. He has played at festivals such as the BBC Proms, Lucerne, La Roque d’Anthéron, Grafenegg, Prague Spring, Ravello, Stresa, San Sebastián, Santander, Granada, Vail, Blossom and Ravinia. Javier Perianes won Spain’s National Music Award in 2012 and was Artist of the Year at the 2019 International Classical Music Awards (ICMA).

 

His 2020-2021 season will include premieres with the London Symphony Orchestra (Perianes will also tour Spain with the LSO), Tonhalle Zürich, Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Aurora Orchestra, Nederlands Philharmonic and NHK Symphony Orchestra, and subsequent performances with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Nacional de Lille, Aalborg Symfoniorkester and the Orquesta Nacional de España.

 

Perianes often performs recitals around the globe. Acclaimed in the world of chamber music, he regularly plays with violinist Tabea Zimmermann and the Quiroga Quartet. This season will include a tour of recitals spanning Europe, the Middle East, USA, Canada and South America, with the programme El amor y la muerte (Love and Death) featuring works by Chopin, Granados, Liszt and Beethoven.

 

In previous seasons he has played with the Wiener Philharmoniker, Leipzig Gewandhausorchester, Concertgebouworkest, Cleveland Orchestra, Czech Philharmonic, the symphonic orchestras of Chicago, Boston and San Francisco, the Oslo, London, New York and Los Ángeles philharmonics, Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, Orchestre de Paris, Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Danish National, Washington National, Swedish and Norwegian Radio Orchestras, Philharmonia Orchestra and the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony.

 

Exclusive artist of the Harmonia Mundi label, Perianes has released many recordings ranging from Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Schubert, Grieg, Chopin, Debussy, Ravel and Bartók to Blasco de Nebra, Mompou, Falla, Granados and Turina. Last season’s recordings include Ravel’s Concerto in G with the Orchestre de Paris and Josep Pons together with the Tombeau de Couperin and the Alborada del Gracioso; and Cantilena, an album alongside the violist Tabea Zimmermann featuring a selection of Spanish and Latin American works. In his more recent albums, Perianes pays tribute to Claude Debussy on the centenary of his death by recording his first book of Preludes and Estampes and Les Trois Sonates – The Late Works, winner of the Gramophone Classical Music Awards 2019 (Chamber category). This season, Perianes returns to the recording study with a project dedicated to Chopin’s Sonatas Nos. 2 and 3.
