The Iturbi Piano Festival, organised by the Department of Culture of the Provincial Council of Valencia, is preparing to host the third edition of this musical event, which will offer seven recitals and a concert by renowned pianists such as Claudio Martínez Mehner, Iván ‘Melón’ Lewis, Juan Floristán, Akiko Ebi, Joaquín Achúcarro and Nelson Goerner, who will tackle demanding repertoires from 13 to 22 June.

The Iturbi Recitals Series will showcase a total of 12 concerts until 5 September, with the performers Elia Cecino, Anthony Ratinov and Rachel Breen, first, second and third prize-winners in the last edition of the Iturbi Prize. Admission to all the concerts is free until full capacity is reached, subject to prior reservation.

The festival is a well-established initiative that aims to programme leading musicians, disseminate music, especially piano music, and continue to vindicate the artistic legacy and the figure of José Iturbi (Valencia 1895 – Los Angeles 1980) and another great Valencian pianist, his sister Amparo (Valencia 1898 – Beverly Hills 1969) in the even-numbered years;

while in the odd-numbered years, the Iturbi Prize will be held, also biennially, with registration open until 25 November for the Valencia International Piano Competition, to be held from 4 to 14 June 2025.

In this way, the institution promotes the project with three strategic lines: to pave the way for the talent of young pianists from all over the world and promote their projection and artistic career through the international competition; to programme great performers through the festival; and to highlight the figure, prestige and memory of the Iturbi brother and sister.
